I hope all this talk about hubs and summits isn't going to become a habit.

It boils down to this: the Limerick Local Heroes initiative now has an office in the Arthur's Quay shopping centre, which is nicely ironic, since a historic block of Georgian houses was demolished and bulldozed into the river to make way for the mall.  The office (or hub as some people prefer to call it) isn't ready yet, so if you happen to be in a trade and find yourself with some spare time, you might considering offering your services with the fit-out.

You might recall reading about the meeting at the end of January, attended by a big crowd of concerned people.  Well, with any luck, next Monday will see an even bigger crowd gather in Thomond Park for what they're calling an ideas summit.

I know.  I know.  It's not a summit, it's a meeting, but go along anyway and have your say, or else remain condemned forever to mutter on your own in the corner of some crumbling old tavern.  Maybe even waving a stick at young people and shouting Clear off!!

What's this Thomond Park meeting about?

It's a brainstorming session.  The crowd will divide up into groups and kick around ideas.  No suggestion, no matter how crazy, will be neglected because that's how brainstorming sessions work.  Out of a ferment of madness comes the answer.  At the end, the hope is that a list of practical ideas and projects will emerge.

I think the bar will open after the serious work is complete, although to be honest with you, I always found that a couple of beers can do great work loosening people up and releasing the creative juices, but who am I to say?   I think there might also be a bit of entertainment.

If you ever wanted to wanted to score in Thomond Park, now's your chance.

Get yourself out there next Monday 13th February at 6pm.

See you at the actionable hub summit.

I would love to participate, but as all these meetings are on Monday's it's impossible with my work schedule :-(

Bock, good man for keeping people informed regarding this initiative.

Unfortunately some of us for various reasons cannot attend and I'm wondering if it might be an idea to have a blog or forum, or both, online where people could continue discussion of 'summit' ideas or to contribute others?

Regarding the office/hub, I have limited time in town these days but when I am there I'd be happy to help out. Is there work going on there daily and could someone casually arrive with tool-kit in hand?

I'm not involved in organising it, but I imagine anyone could volunteer via the Facebook page Local Limerick Heroes.

    G'man, thanks.
