The fundraiser for Andreas Varady's musical education was a great success for everyone, including the crowds who turned up and donated to the fund, and the Limerick musicians whose generosity seems to be unlimited. Great praise also to Donal Mulcahy, the proprietor of Nancy Blake's, for supporting the project, providing the premises and feeding everyone. I watched Donal tirelessly flipping burgers and gently directing the confused towards the contribution bucket. And I enjoyed more than one of his delicious offerings, I'm happy and ashamed to say.
The hope and expectation is that other Limerick hostelries will follow his example.
Just to remind you what it's all about, Andreas is a phenomenally talented 12-year-old jazz guitarist, and this effort is all aimed at making sure that he reaches the heights he deserves. The gig at Nancy's was to help him attend Skidmore College in New York but there will be more events.
This kid is going to be one of the greats. (His little brother Adrian and his sister Beata aren't too slow either, as you can see).
Here are a few of the pics I took, and also some by Limerick photographers Darren Ryan and Mac Attack.

Here's a few pics from Darren Ryan.

And here are some by Mac Atttack.

Brilliant pics. as usual.
There seems to be a steady improvement in your technical photographic abilities.
You may however be losing some resolution when uploading to Piclens. Or it might be my imagination.
Sunday's event proved yet again that Limerick is awash with very talented musicians, photographers and people with good hearts and humour.
Piclens is shite. But I can't put all the pics on one page or it will take forever to load. Apologies to Daz and Mac.
Even if I hadn't been there I believe I could not but be impressed by the standard in photography displayed.
Who wouldn't be? Just one look at the three women captured having serious fun is spectacular.
For me, your best photo here is that of the young blond singer whose name I do not know, third photo from the end; you captured an entire story in just one click.
Having stated that I have to add, the final in your sequence, a group study; superb.
Well done.
Nay worries Bock..that was a great day in Nancys..hopefully we might have more days like that over the summer..really had fun..Oh and thats Sarah Goodwin from the Funk Junkies, Unstranger..
Thanks Dazman.
What a day it was. What an unbelievably talented family. They're all genuinely decent people too. Great pics, Bock.
jazus he is just about better than me on the auld guitar! He will go far..
Glad that went well – the lad deserves the best. Limerick did itself proud, by the looks of the photos.

As guitar player I am very happy to see know gifted people like Andreas.
I would love to have the chance to play with him one day.
All the best Andreas and dont ever forget:
You play the way it should be…never change a thing.
The swing and timing are the most important things and you have it all.
