Jerry Flannery Out Of Lions Tour

The word locally is that Jerry Flannery has a chipped elbow and won't be able to go on the Lions tour of South Africa.

That's three Munster players out:  Tomás O Leary with a broken ankle, Alan Quinlan suspended for gouging and now Flannery with another injury.

That's before the Heineken Cup final next Saturday which will be tough, and which will include several Irish Lions.  I hope we don't find ourselves even more depleted after that.

There seems to be some sort of curse on Munster players and this tour, two have been crocked and one left his fingerprints all over the scene of the crime, so to speak. Meanwhile, why do they call us lions when there are no lions in these islands – cept for the zoo, and we're traveling to a country where there are lots of lions, but they choose to call themselves after a marsupial which is noted for lepping in the air when it is alarmed.

The Lions anthem, t'would make Daniel O'Donnell blush.

From the four corners of our lands
    We're united, hand in hand
    Together
    We're stronger
We join and proud we stand
Now the day has come, we are one
Standing tall for our Lions' call
    We're stronger
    Together
We are the power of four
