Alan Quinlan won't be going to South Africa with the Lions, and I'm afraid it's his own fault.
He was caught on TV with his hands over Leo Cullen's eye area, and that's grounds for a suspension.
It's a pity, for Quinlan and for Munste: he's the second Lions player we've lost after Tomás O Leary's appalling ankle fracture. But facxts are facts. Quinlan was living on the edge, as he's always done, and he was caught.
It must be dreadful for him, and I know that both Cullen and alan Cheika honourably spoke up in his defence, but in the end, Alan Quinlan is going to miss the South Africa tour because he broke the rules.
There's no-one else to blame.
