I had written off water filters as a 'fad', and now I'm wondering if I should get one.

I'll do some research, tks!

I was never a huge dairy fan, but in 2000 I gave up all dairy.
About 6 years later I began to eat a little goats cheese which had me in violent pain, A Doc told me that we don't have the right enzyme to digest dairy, we (i'm abbreviating) force our systems to produce it, therefore having given up dairy for so long i had lost the ability to digest and absorb it.
All my siblings are on medication for osteoporosis, as i have a huge aversion to meds, i find my calcium etc from beans and seeds, 1oz of sesame seeds contains 5 times the amount of calcium as a pint of milk, I occasionally eat meat, just not my thing, i'm a chicken/fish person, wholegrains, fruit/veg loads seeds, nuts, beans etc, building muscle also helps as does vitamin d which we are in very short supply of.
I was really annoyed the other day because the Doctor told my daughter to supplement her breast milk for her baby, 7 weeks old, because he said her legs were'nt fat enough ! she was scared but doing a lot of research with her she was reassured, and the baby is steadily gaining weight, don't know what the process is for these Docs but it looks like a lot of scaremongering.

There's also a good deal of research linking Osteoporosis to flouride (as in the stuff that's normally classified as toxic waste but our government decided to buy and 'medicate' 80% of our water with).

According to Mr Darwin, protein is no big deal. I know that okra, soybeans and kale are good sources of calcium, but there are probably many others if you look it up.

That's interesting ... I was diagnosed with osteoporosis last year, and had put it down largely to the low-fat, non-dairy, low-sugar, low-salt, low-everything diet they put me on 11 years ago, after the double bypass. I was put off cheese and butter entirely and told to use skimmed milk. It seemed reasonable to assume that my calcium intake had dropped considerably because of that diet, and set me on the road to osteoporosis.

So if we're not to get calcium from dairy produce, I wonder where else? I can't think of any other food off-hand ..
