Well said, Bock. I attended the races once, in Limerick, and found it to be the most tedious and unpleasant way of spending an afternoon. I'd rather be sealed in a metal drum and dragged down the M50 than ever go again. My favourite bit was where everyone started shouting at their horses as they came close to the finish line. They're horses; they can't hear you! Besides, they're already running as fast as they can thanks to the aggressive midget on their backs whipping them! A total waste of time…

I've been to Thomond. Many years ago on my first visit I seen Cork Conn and Young Munster – what a day. Back then that was a strange place for a Kildare man to be.

I've also been to Limerick racecourse. But then that's the most natural place for a Kildare man to be.

Definitely agree about golf. Anybody remotely interested in it is nothing short of a bollocks. The lower the handicap, the greater the bollocks. It's the most egotistical game you could ever get involved with – 'my swing, my stroke, my drive, my eagle, my whatever the fuck – ' and they all wait patiently one after the other for the chance to egotrip.
And don't even begin to mention the dress code and the ettiqette! Thundering prats, the whole fuckin' lot of them.
